Miłakowo is a beautiful small town with a population of about 4,000, located amidst an impressive scenery with picturesque forests and lakes on the intersection of the roads: Dobre Miasto-Elbląg-Orneta and Ostróda-Orneta. Within a radius of 30km are located towns with beautiful historical monuments like the castles in Lidzbark Warmiński, Orneta, Morąg and Ostróda or the church in Nowe Miasto. Other famous sites are the palace in Wojciechy and the palace in Bieniasze, both from the 18th century and, located on the shore of the lake Narie, the palace in Ponary, historical residence of the Grober family.

Located in Miłakowo are a Gothic church which was build in 1324-1350 and a neo-Gothic church build in 1855.
